Falls are the [l](https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/72/wr/mm7235a1.htm)[eading cause of injury and accidental](https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/72/wr/mm7235a1.htm) death among adults over 65 in the U.S. This public health concern has never been sufficiently addressed by traditional methods, as shown by the [rising prevalence and cost of falls](https://pop.psu.edu/news/rate-fatal-falls-among-us-seniors-doubled-20-years) over the last 20 years. For MA plans, falls cost an average of [$3,144 PMPM](https://info.nymblscience.com/the-cost-of-falls?hsLang=en). The prevalence and cost of falls are higher than most chronic conditions. The annual per-member cost for falls ($37,734) is almost the same as that of congestive heart failure ($37,382).
